There have been four recorded BESS fires in New York State, which are shown above. We note the following:

• These are very small facilities (by comparison, the proposed Oyster Shore facility is 1,100 MWh and 275MW). Because small facilities have fewer battery cells, the risk of fire should be reduced, yet three of the four occurred within the first year of operation! 

• And yes, you read that right, two of the fires occurred a the same facility one day apart! And they smoldered for more than a week.

• The East Hampton fire burned for six days!

• Health officials said there were no toxic emissions. If you believe that, we have a bridge for sale, wonderful Brooklyn location!
